North Hobart Dental is located in 3 Pitt Street in the vibrant hub of North Hobart. We operate from a beautifully renovated heritage listed cottage where we have created a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Easy and free 2 hour parking is available at the top of Pitt Street.

North Hobart Dental provides for all aspects of modern dentistry and liaises with specialists in Hobart for any further treatment that may be required.

The dentists:  

Dr Dirk Jacobsen (photo above right) trained and graduated in Hamburg, Germany in 1990 and after many years as Principle Dentist of private practice in both Germany and Australia he opened North Hobart Dental in 2007.

Dr Wilhelm Koch (photo above left) trained and graduated in Cape Town, South Africa. Dr Koch worked in private practice in Cape Town and in Tassie's public dental service as the Senior Dental Officer before joining North Hobart Dental. 

Both dentists travelled a similar pathway, but about 10 years apart and have brought with them a wealth of knowledge from their home countries before coming to Australia. 
Dirk and Wilhelm share a love for Tasmania, its people and the beautiful lifestyle it offers.

The Staff:

Our staff includes (from left to right in photo above) Steffanie Oberle, Suzie Cooper, Jane Doyle, Sandra Chew.
All our nurses are very experienced and competent and most of all they are warm hearted and dedicated.

Our goal:

At North Hobart Dental our aim is to provide exceptional dental care. The equipment is state of the art and we will always endeavor to help our clients choose the right dental treatment by clearly explaining and demonstrating all options available.

Your first appointment:

Usually patients book their first appointment over the phone or by dropping in to make an appointment at the reception.

Often patients call either for a routine check-up and clean appointment or they need a problem to be attended to.

If you make an appointment for a check-up and clean we mostly do a thorough examination with a couple of digital x-rays.
X-rays are important. Without them there is no proper diagnosis.
If you have a dental problem that needs our attention such as a filling or pain, we will take care of the problem first.

What is important to us and you:

North Hobart Dental works on an appointment only basis.  

We are proud of our excellent time management skills and we rarely run late. Your time is important to us as well as the time we dedicate to the patient who is booked in after you. 

We love it when our patients are on time or early for their appointments because no unnecessary frustration or delays will arise for you, the patient scheduled after you or us.

Generally we invite all patients to come 10 minutes early for their appointments especially new patients as you will need to fill out a medical history form.

We always have new and interesting magazines to flick through in our comfortable waiting area. 
If you must cancel an appointment please consider that we require time to fill your allotted time.

We appreciate at least 2 working days notice of cancellation. 

This allows another patient, who may be in pain to fill the gap.

Payments: 

We offer Hicaps for on the spot payments of health fund claims. 

Eftpos, Mastercard, Visa and cash are all accepted. 

Payment is required on the day of treatment. 

We always welcome new patients and look forward to your visit and patronage.
